The Southfield City Council approved a request to rezone a vacant 1.01-acre parcel on the east side of Kiefer Street from light industrial to RT attached single-family zoning and approved the accompanying site plan with conditions. Senior planner Kyle Bryce explained the rezoning and site-plan adjustments, and petitioner Carl Garrett said the development would be a ranch-style, two-unit attached home for him and his family. A resident, Pamela Jarrell, voiced support; other residents raised questions about timing and insurance but the planning commission had recommended approval with conditions. The council approved the rezoning and site plan and introduced the related ordinance.
