Menomonie City Council adopts new sewer discharge limits, rewrites solid waste code and updates speed limits

Ordinance 2026-07 amends Title 8, Chapter 2 of the City Code to clarify responsibility for operation and maintenance of building sewers, tightens the Mercury discharge limit and establishes local PFOA and PFOS discharge limits. Schlough moved to adopt the ordinance and Schwebs seconded; the motion carried unanimously after the council waived the first and second readings.
Council also repealed and recreated the city's solid waste collection code with adoption of Ordinance 2026-08. The council introduced the ordinance and, after waiving readings, approved final adoption (motion to adopt made by Hargrove and seconded by Schwebs). Immediately after that vote the council approved Resolution 2026-16, setting solid waste collection license fees, and Resolution 2026-17, setting the reimbursement rate for residential curbside recycling; both resolutions passed unanimously.
Separately, the council adopted Ordinance 2026-09 to amend section 6-3-1 A and change speed limits on South Broadway Street, CTH B, 650th Avenue and 690th Avenue. Schwebs moved to adopt, Pickard seconded, and the ordinance passed unanimously on a roll-call vote.
