District to shift custodial work to Campus Services Group; daytime custodians to remain employed by district

The facilities committee reviewed a phased transition of custodial services to an outside contractor, Campus Services Group (CSG). Chair (S1) described the schedule: CSG will begin full responsibility for the high school on June 1, take over additional schools the week after, and the district expects CSG to assume responsibility for the full district by July 1. The chair said staff have been meeting weekly with CSG and that operations has purchased supplies to support the handoff using a Kanban inventory system.
When asked whether METS employees (the current third-party evening custodial contractor) would automatically transfer to CSG, staff said no automatic transfers are guaranteed; district-employed daytime custodians will remain district employees. The chair noted the transition “will have some fallout of employees because of the contract,” and emphasized the district will review clearances and hiring to ensure new hires meet requirements before work begins.
Board members asked whether METS employees could be hired by CSG; staff said individual conversations are possible but that most METS evening staff will not move into the new contract. The committee did not take formal action at the meeting; staff said they will continue weekly coordination and provide further updates as the transition proceeds.
