Wright County approves road and parks contracts, schedules ditch hearings and updates fees

The Wright County Board of Commissioners approved several infrastructure and administrative actions during its May 5 meeting, including MnDOT agreements, a final payment for pavement markings, parks-donation acceptance, scheduling of Judicial Ditch No. 1 hearings and a modification to the county’s 2026 Fees for Service.
The board adopted Resolution 26-37 authorizing signatures to enter MnDOT Cooperative Construction Agreement #1060047 and Resolution 26-38 authorizing signatures on Minnesota Department of Transportation Contract #1062668 after presentations by Highway Engineer Chad Hausmann (motions carried unanimously, 4–0, with Commissioner Tina Diedrick absent). The board also adopted Resolution 26-39 to accept final work and approve a final payment of $66,282.09 to Sir Lines-A-Lot for the county’s 2025 pavement marking contract.
Parks & Recreation Office Technician Delia Scepaniak presented Resolution 26-36 to accept donations for prizes for the county’s Parks and Recreation “Challenge Wright” program; the board approved the resolution unanimously. On administrative and planning items included in the consent agenda, the board appointed Marc Weigle to the Wright County Economic Development Authority and approved the appointment of Julie Marquardt to the Aggregate Tax Committee. Health & Human Services items approved included reappointments and awards: Social Services Supervisor Christine Treichler introduced Deb Zentz and Mike Pederson as recipients of the MSSA Region 7 Excellence in Child Foster Care Award; reappointments and license approvals were also adopted as listed on the consent agenda.
Ag & Drainage Coordinator Matt Detjen asked the board to cancel a previously noticed partial-abandonment hearing and to schedule two hearings related to Judicial Ditch No. 1 for Tuesday, June 16, 2026: a full-abandonment hearing at 10:30 a.m. and a partial-abandonment hearing at 11:00 a.m. The board approved cancelling and scheduling the hearings and additionally set a Ditch Committee of the Whole meeting with legal counsel for 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 to review legal requirements governing ditch actions.
At 9:30 a.m. Chair Vetsch opened the public hearing on the 2026 Fees for Service changes and closed it immediately after no members of the public spoke; he stated the change included a $15 fee for work release. The board then approved the modification to the county fee schedule.
Finally, the board voted to cancel the County Board workshop slated for May 12, 2026. All motions noted above passed on recorded 4–0 votes with Commissioner Tina Diedrick absent.
