He said the model has been replicated regionally and cited longitudinal research indicating roughly 70–75% of individuals who complete the program remain sober one year later. Mingo said Onslow County-specific services included transportation, and that the facility had received 50 detox admissions from Onslow County with an average detox length of stay of roughly 3.1 days; 32 admissions from Onslow County entered the longer-term residential program with an average length of stay near 69.2 days.
Mia, development associate at The Healing Place, shared a client story: an Onslow County resident who entered the program carrying 32 convictions, completed the program, worked with legal aid to expunge those convictions, became a peer mentor and peer mentor supervisor, and is pursuing a GED and employment.
