EDA outlines Blacksburg façade reimbursement program; pass-through checks issued to eight businesses

She said the town interviewed 30 applicants and awarded 16; the total program funding was stated as $157,064.46 and the town had contributed $35,075 to the EDA. “We have deposited that into our bank account, and the EDA has cut the checks to these 8 companies that have been identified to the town of Blacksburg,” she said.
Context: Board members clarified there was no decision required of the EDA because the town administers the project and certifies completed work; the EDA’s role is to disburse funds after receiving the town’s approved contracts and vendor requests. Brenda confirmed staff will cut remaining checks as paperwork arrives.
