The committee approved item 261188 appointing Olive Brown as the Housing Authority of Cook County’s resident commissioner. Olive Brown spoke by phone about her long-standing ties to the community, experience working with local churches and leaders, and a commitment to serve with integrity.
Brown said her experience as a mother and grandmother, combined with community work, has prepared her to listen and problem-solve for tenants. "I would be honored to bring my experience, dedication, and community-minded spirit to the position," she said.
Commissioners asked no substantive questions, and the committee approved the appointment by roll call: 14 ayes, 3 excused. Chair said Brown will be sworn in and become official at the full Board meeting the following Thursday.
