Weber County staff presented a request to grant a second-year tax-sale extension for parcel number(s) 19, 33 and 48 after buyers paid a $12,000 earnest payment toward delinquent taxes.
Andy McCray explained the parcel had been inherited and the new buyers intended to close, but the sale was delayed while the buyers obtained permits from Plain City. To demonstrate intent, the buyers paid $12,000 toward the delinquent amount; McCray said the remaining delinquency after that payment was about $14,773 (plus interest) and recommended the county approve an extension with a new closing date of Sept. 1, 2026.
Commissioners asked clarifying questions about the timeline and pointed to the tax-review committee's recommendation to approve the extension. McCray said he would be available for follow-up questions and that closing documents were in the packet. The board indicated support for approving the extension as recommended by staff and the tax-review committee.
Next steps: tax-review committee recommendation to approve the extension will be enacted administratively; staff will monitor closing and collect remaining delinquent amounts at closing.
