County auditor urges better timecarding after review of sheriff allocation; recommends follow-up

She recommended the sheriff improve timecarding practices so the county's allocation model can be recalculated using more robust data.
Rhodes said her report is advisory and that the audit committee can request a follow-up review once about six months of additional data exist. Commissioners discussed timelines and emphasized they would expect a follow-up or finalization by late fall if adequate data were not produced. In the absence of new data, Rhodes said the working number in the report would remain 23 general-fund deputies.
Next steps: place follow-up on the audit committee agenda, collect six months of timecard/allocation data, and have audit staff reassess and produce a subsequent report for committee action.
