Superintendent Colby honors 35 retirees across Hillsborough Township Public School District

Superintendent Colby opened the district's retirement celebration, naming dozens of employees who are leaving the Hillsborough Township Public School District after long tenures. "We are truly blessed to have incredible educators," Colby said, praising staff across instructional, support and transportation roles.

The recognition spanned multiple schools and departments. Colby highlighted Hillsborough High School retirees including Elizabeth Berliner, who retires after 44 years, and Patricia Gambardella, noted for 15 years in special education support. Middle school retirees included Danuta Pankos (25 years) and Millie Pincus (24 years as an instructional assistant). Woods Road Elementary recognition included Jane Caljiri (29 years) and Janice Jeans (33 years). Transportation staff honored included Robin Acone (13 years) and Doris Koopa.

The superintendent summarized the district's retirements as 35 individuals with a combined 832 years of experience, thanking them for service that ranged from classroom teaching and special-education support to custodial and transportation roles. Colby told the room that many retirees ‘‘have made that kind of difference in someone else's child,’’ and encouraged the community to acknowledge the collective contributions.

Board President recessed the meeting briefly after the report. There were no public comments on the retirements during the public-comment period that followed.

The district will proceed to routine agenda business after the recognition; no formal board action was taken on retirements at this meeting.
