Council clears special-use permit for Uptown fitness center

The Park Ridge City Council on Jan. 20 approved the final reading of an ordinance granting a special use for a health and fitness center at 136 N. Northwest Highway (case SU 2602) in the Uptown B4 commercial subdistrict.
Planning & Zoning reviewed the application at its Jan. 13 meeting, recommended approval 8-0 and recorded no public comments. The applicant, Amy Fontana, addressed the council and noted the business had relocated a few doors from its previous location; she thanked council members for their consideration. The council approved the ordinance on a roll-call vote of 6-0.
The ordinance allows the business use in the Uptown commercial subdistrict consistent with the special-use provisions discussed by staff and the P&Z commission.
