Dayton wins $2.9M for bridge study; $3M toward Old Town water tower funding announced

"The legislature awarded the group, dollars 2,900,000 to, fund the tier 1 environmental impact statement," S5 said, describing the bridge study as a phase‑one, two‑ to three‑year effort to determine feasibility. S5 added the study is intended to determine whether a bridge project is feasible and to produce materials for subsequent design and permitting work.
On water infrastructure, S5 said the city had received $3,000,000 toward a water tower for Old Town. Staff noted the tower is intended to increase water capacity that currently limits development in Old Town and that the project is tentatively scheduled for 2027–2028 planning and construction steps. S5 said the wellhead treatment plant (Wellhead 4 and 5) is operating and that the treatment work addresses iron and odor issues.
No formal decisions were required at the EDA meeting; staff said they will provide more detailed timelines and project descriptions as grants and bond planning proceed.
