Coos County commissioners approve health IGA amendment, victim-services contracts and equipment surplus

The board authorized Amendment No. 1 to IGA #44300-00054284, increasing the contract to $355,323.85 and directing about $40,000 of the change toward civil-commitment-related services and behavioral health teams, officials said. Acting Director Dr. Tim Lynch described the change as a funding transition that refocuses some resources for the behavioral health response; a motion to approve the amendment was moved by a commissioner and seconded and the motion passed.
In separate votes the commissioners approved two victim-services contracts funded through the county’s Justice Reinvestment Program. Jenny Malum, representing Kids Hope Center, asked the board to approve a contract for $20,906.75 to fund a 50% FTE child and family advocate; the motion passed. The board approved an identical amount, $20,906.75, for Safe Project victim services, which county staff said supports domestic violence and sexual assault survivors and funds a 0.38 FTE outreach advocate position.
The board also approved an $8,600 contract with Justice Consulting Consortium to assess community corrections practices and develop a strategic plan aligned with evidence-based standards.
On property and equipment, county staff asked the board to declare multiple vehicles and items surplus. The board authorized transfer of two specific vehicles — a 2008 Chevy Tahoe to Hauser Rural Fire Department and a 2011 Ford Expedition to Central Coos Rural Fire Protection District — and directed auction or salvage of other listed items via the county’s public auction platform. The commissioners approved deeming a damaged Yamaha YXZ all-terrain vehicle salvage and authorizing its sale to Sire Powersports for $3,500.
All motions noted on the agenda passed as moved and seconded; staff said items that will be auctioned will be posted on Public Surplus. The board also approved the consent calendar and closed the meeting.
