Library staff announce hires, Mario Kart Club and summer reading kickoff on June 8

At the May 19 meeting the Fargo Public Library Board received a staff report from Megan outlining personnel changes and summer programming plans.
Megan said Kai Thorsen will start next week as the library’s new children’s staffer and Morgan Webb will move from branch circulation to the main library, becoming a tech assistant in early June. Megan also noted that Krista has been promoted to an outreach position and that a few vacancies remain as staff are promoted internally.
On programming, Megan told the board that the Mario Kart Club will return this summer on Monday evenings at the main library beginning June 8 and encouraged attendees to bring a Switch or their game if possible. Signups for the summer reading program begin June 1 and reading events start June 8; the kickoff that day will be held outside between library buildings and will include themed activities such as giant digging-machine displays and family-friendly events. The library will use the Beanstack platform again for the reading challenge.
Board members asked no follow-up questions during the staff report. The staffing changes and program schedule were presented as informational items; no formal board action was required.
