Local IT contractor briefs Richmond council on cybersecurity and .gov training requirement

Mark Anderson, president of AllTech LLC, presented Richmond City Council members with an overview of the firm’s services and cybersecurity recommendations on April 21.
Anderson described AllTech as Richmond’s long-time technical-services partner and outlined services that include phones, network infrastructure, technical support, surveillance systems and cybersecurity. He emphasized a layered security approach and noted that roughly 90% of security breaches stem from user actions; he said security-awareness training can reduce potential threats by about 70%.
Mayor Jeffrey D. Young disclosed an association with AllTech and said Councilmember Bryce Wood has been designated as the council liaison to ensure transparency. Anderson said the company has done site visits at city facilities to identify improvement opportunities and that presentation materials were provided to the council in advance.
Councilmembers were told that state statute requires completion of cybersecurity training through a .gov platform for elected officials and staff, and Mayor Young said council members will be required to complete that training and testing.
No procurement or contract action was taken at the April 21 meeting; the presentation served as an informational briefing.
