Monterey County Department of Social Services to host June 12 One‑Stop resource fair in Salinas

Marlene Bush of the Monterey County Department of Social Services announced on May 20 that the department will host its fifth annual open house and resource fair on Friday, June 12 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the One‑Stop Community Center, 730 LaGuardia Street in Salinas. Bush said the event is free, open to the public and organized to connect families with a wide range of county and nonprofit services.
Bush said the fair emphasizes a multigenerational approach and supports parents, children, older adults, people with disabilities and caregivers. Exhibitors will include CalWORKs Employment Services, Aging and Adult Services, the Military and Veterans Affairs Office, behavioral health providers, local community colleges and Meals on Wheels programs (Meals on Wheels Monterey and Meals on Wheels Salinas Valley). She said there will be games, refreshments, a popular shave‑ice line, a petting booth and additional family activities.
The department expects more than 50 service providers and last year’s turnout exceeded 400 attendees; Bush said the first 400 families in line this year will receive a gas gift card sponsored by Goodwill Central Coast. She encouraged residents to follow Monterey County DSS on Instagram and Facebook for the event flyer and additional updates. Bush noted the One‑Stop Community Center occupies the former Employment Development Department building near Salinas Airport and provided directions to the location.
