Wilkinson said IBJI offered an extension but with a substantial price increase: “They were willing to do an additional 2 years, but the cost of that went up fairly significantly,” he said, explaining the recommended one‑year renewal would be $75,000 for 2026–27 with an optional second year at $80,000. He told board members IBJI had been the only bidder in the 2023 procurement process, limiting competition.
Wilkinson framed the recommendation as a continuity decision: renewing for one year (with the optional second year) preserves service while leaving the district the option to rebid in the winter if the committee prefers. He noted that additional charges for summer camp coverage or occasional junior high events would be billed separately as before.
Committee members raised no objections, and Wilkinson said the agreement is included in the regular board meeting packet as a consent item. The committee’s endorsement sends the renewal to the full board for formal action at the upcoming meeting.
