Barrington Hills board approves payables, hears year-end financial picture

Trustees voted to accept January payables totaling $222,022.33 after a motion and second. Clerk-conducted roll-call recorded affirmative votes from the trustees present and the motion passed.
The board also approved the overtime report for December 2025, which listed $15,394 in overtime. Village finance staff answered a short question about grant-related reversals and procurement items connected to the report.
Finance presenter Dean Herb reviewed preliminary year-end numbers through Dec. 31: revenue of about $6.43 million against a $7.4 million budget, with a Cook County reimbursement of about $1 million expected and likely to be recorded back to the prior fiscal year; total expenses reported near $7.8 million against a budget of $8.7 million. The consolidated fund’s net position was reported at roughly $20.4 million, and the presenter noted strong investment returns for the period.
Trustees accepted the minutes from Dec. 15 and covered department reports including building and zoning and public safety before adjourning at 7:21 p.m.
What’s next: Finance staff said they will finalize accrual work and adjust year-end accounting once pending items, including the Cook County reimbursement, are recorded.
