Economic‑development group asks to hold funding level; details grants, apprenticeships and marketing plans

The Enid Regional Development Alliance (ERDA) presented its FY2026–27 work plan and budget request, asking the commission to fund the organization at the same level as the prior year and describing a set of programs aimed at business retention, recruitment and workforce development.
“Our whole team is here — myself, Debbie Moore and Meredith Wright — to talk about our budget and the work that we get to do at Enid Regional Development Alliance,” the presenter said, outlining four strategic pillars. ERDA described a small‑business grant program offering up to $10,000 to qualifying companies, an apprenticeship grant that can provide up to $5,000 per employer to support mentor pay or training materials, and an intern program that includes summer housing support.
ERDA said it is also marketing more than 700 acres of industrial park land, has secured a $35,000 Department of Commerce grant for signage to support those properties, and participates in Heartland Forward — a regional initiative aiming to attract investment. On workforce, ERDA said it has revived the Enid Young Professionals program and will reintroduce a “10 Under 40” recognition; it reported more than 60 nominations for that program this year.
Commissioners praised ERDA’s regional approach and asked questions about retail recruitment (ERDA said it contracts with Retail Strategies) and the possible local business effects of a pending state ballot question on the minimum wage. ERDA said it had not received specific employer concerns about the ballot measure to date.
The presentation concluded with commissioners thanking ERDA for its regional partnerships and results; the budget request will be on the regular meeting agenda for consideration.
