Williamson County Election Commission approves new vote-center locations, absentee board and inspection date
Summary
The commission unanimously approved relocating two vote centers, appointed the Absentee Counting Board for the May 5 primary, set an April 13 voting-machine inspection/open-house, and approved qualified local candidates for the August ballot (subject to any successful appeals). Motions passed 4-0.
The Williamson County Election Commission on March 25 approved several procedural items ahead of the May 5 County Primary and the Aug. 6 State Primary.
The commission approved moving Vote Center 4 to Thompson's Station Middle/Elementary Schools (2638/2640 Clayton Arnold Road) and Vote Center 25 to Parish Presbyterian Church (4156 Clovercroft Road, Franklin). Administrator Chad Gray said Parish Presbyterian was used previously and has a "large parking lot." Secretary Wanda Bruce Graham moved to approve both sites; Commissioner Jim Burnett seconded and the vote passed unanimously, 4-0.
The commission also appointed the members of the Absentee Counting Board for the May 5, 2026 County Primary Election following Administrator Gray's recommended list; Secretary Graham moved the appointment, Burnett seconded, and the motion passed 4-0. The commission set the Voting Machine Inspection/Open House for April 13, 2026, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the WCEC office at 405 Downs Blvd., Franklin; that motion was made and approved 4-0.
On candidate qualifications, Gray provided a March 17, 2026 letter from the chair of the Tennessee Republican Party to the Coordinator of Elections concerning temporary removal of candidates from the primary ballot. Secretary Graham moved to approve the county's qualified local state candidates for the Aug. 6, 2026 State Primary and candidates for City of Fairview Municipal Court Clerk appearing on the Aug. 6 County General Election ballot, with the condition that any Williamson County candidates who successfully appeal their removal be approved to appear on the ballot; Commissioner Burnett seconded and the motion passed unanimously, 4-0.
Other business: the commission announced it will participate in the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury's Block Boundary Suggestion Project to preview census blocks and advise on vote-center siting in high-growth areas. Acting Chair Donna Choate adjourned the meeting at 4:38 p.m. so commissioners could conduct three post-election performance audits; the public was invited to remain for those audits.
