Commission approves $6 million commitment for Davis–Salt Lake Community Connector

Kent Anderson, in community and economic development, described the project and the county funding request and said UTA is still applying for federal funds to support the route. "They're still actually applying for federal funds on this, and so they're waiting for an announcement of that," Anderson said. The county's reimbursement agreement is intended to cover local funding obligations if federal awards are made.
The resolution presented the funding as a payable of $6,000,000, with a project timeframe through June 30, 2029. Commissioners discussed that the application process is ongoing and that additional preservation-fund flexibility may allow the county to contribute more local dollars; one commissioner noted the county is exploring donating additional preservation funds.
The commission approved the interlocal reimbursement resolution by voice vote. The item was presented as a local funding commitment contingent on any federal grant awards; Anderson said the final federal decision and grant terms remain to be announced.
Next steps: UTA's federal funding announcement and final execution of the interlocal agreement will determine project scheduling and which project phases move forward.
