Students Demand Action asks Revere schools to share gun-safety flyer; parent thanks follows

During the public-comment portion of the May 19 meeting, three high-school students representing Students Demand Action asked the board to help distribute a gun-safety flyer to families ahead of summer. Gabby Eiler (speaker 12), a Revere High senior, said the flyer includes tips and a QR code with resources about secure firearm storage and noted research that shows gun incidents tend to increase in warmer months when students are not in school.
"We’re just asking that parents store their firearms away from ammunition, in a gun safe with a gun lock, and out of the reach of children," Eiler said, offering to revise the flyer’s wording to meet district concerns and asking the board to place it on ParentSquare or in the district’s flyer distribution area.
Board members asked to keep a copy for review; Eiler offered to email the flyer as well. Earlier in the public-comment period, Carrie D’Aulis (speaker 26), a Revere resident and parent of five district graduates, thanked district staff, saying the video and presentations show her children thriving in district programs.
Board members recorded no formal vote on the request at the meeting; staff indicated they would review the flyer and follow up with the students about possible revisions and placement.
