Valley Vision EDC says firm is exploring container service from Port of Lewiston

Chavez said the group attended an April 28 event hosted by the Oregon Container Terminal in Lewiston and has since been in ongoing conversations about restarting container distribution out of the Port of Lewiston. He framed the development as a potential economic opportunity, noting that the port historically shipped more than 200 containers a week and that renewed service could support agribusiness and attract manufacturing and other non‑ag sectors.
"They have exceeded their benchmark in terms of what they need to produce on a rigor basis relative to containers moving in and out of the valley," Chavez said.
Councilors responded positively and asked for follow‑up by staff and port leadership. No formal council action or funding request related to the port presentation was taken during the meeting.
