Coventry committee moves to update lake management plan, schedules September forum

The Coventry Lake Advisory & Monitoring Committee on May 11 discussed next steps for an updated Coventry Lake management plan after a Low Impact Development (LID) Work Group presentation to the Town Council on April 20.
The committee recorded the Work Group's preliminary recommendation to organize, coordinate and produce a timely revision of the lake management plan and said CLAM intends to play a significant role in that process. Members said they will participate in workshops and outreach to help shape plan content.
Committee members reviewed upcoming outreach opportunities tied to the planning effort: CLAM will staff a table with a trifold display, water sampling equipment, and a Secchi disk at a May workshop; Zeppa will contact Farmers Market coordinators about CLAM participation on target dates of July 12, 19 or 26; and the committee plans to finalize topics and presenters for a Lake Forum scheduled Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. at Mill Brook Place.
Possible forum topics discussed included the Connecticut Federation of Lakes Boat Launch Stewardship Program, a wake surf boating panel drawing lessons from Lake Waramaug, and updates on ongoing low‑impact development efforts. The committee said it expects to name presenters and firm up an agenda by August.
