Lancaster County board approves consent items, right-of-way payments and turn-lane agreement

The Lancaster County Board of Commissioners approved a slate of routine consent and administrative items during its May 19 meeting, including contract renewals, right-of-way payments, a public hearing setting, and an interlocal agreement with the City of Lincoln.
Consent agenda items approved included renewal amendments to Contract C-26-0209 with Shawnee Mission Tree Service for right-of-way pruning (renewal through June 12, 2027; cost not to exceed $15,000) and C-23-0506 with Safety Kleen Systems for recycling solvents and parts washer services (renewal through June 12, 2027; cost not to exceed $5,000). The board also approved right-of-way payments of $703 to the Joyce Halling Living Trust and $2,030 to The Rolofson Family Living Trust. A public hearing was set for Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. in Room 112 on proposed Lancaster County electrical and mechanical fee schedules.
The County Clerk returned to Item 2A to add payroll claims (Exhibit 1) to the claims approval; those payroll disbursements and itemized employee reimbursements were included and approved by the board. Assistant County Engineer Larry Legg described an interlocal agreement with the City of Lincoln to add turn lanes on Northwest 56th Street; the City will cover the estimated added cost of $124,638.87 using federal STBG funds and other City funds. The board approved the consent items and interlocal agreement by unanimous votes.
These routine approvals also included a county Statement of Values for insurance purposes; staff said the City will handle design and construction for the turn-lane project, scheduled for letting in October and construction next summer.
