Lemont board approves HR Green and Weber contracts; parking garage to close May 11 for repairs

The Village of Lemont approved several professional-services agreements and scheduled near-term street and garage work during its public meeting.
Trustees authorized a contract to finish parking garage phase 2 repairs with HR Green; Ralph (public works/staff) said work would begin May 11, the garage would be closed for two to three weeks and alternative parking would be provided for residents. "The parking garage will be closed for 2 to 3 weeks... staff recommendation is to go into the agreement with HR Green not to exceed $20,000," Ralph said.
Separately, the board approved a professional-services agreement with HR Green for the inflow-and-infiltration (I&I) program — sewer lining work on streets including Hillview Drive and Cherokee Place — with a cost not to exceed $24,000. Trustees also approved a contract with Gary R. Weber Associates for monitoring and maintenance of the Kettering Ponds (wet-bottom ponds), not to exceed $32,100; Ralph said Weber’s team will perform mowing, selective plant removal and periodic site visits several times per year.
The board approved a final phase-of-design agreement for the new Public Works Annex site with HR Green to cover paving, curb and gutter, lighting and landscaping in an amount not to exceed $69,750. All motions passed on roll-call votes as presented by the clerk.
Public-works staff also confirmed that State Street resurfacing (grind and overlay, with curbing and structure adjustments) will begin on the morning of May 11 and that IDOT and county divisions manage some local road segments; staff asked residents to expect traffic control and short-term detours. The police chief and staff also announced that HBO will film in town on Wednesday the 29th, with road closures affecting Walter, Aaron Court and McCarthy Road; schools and waste management have been notified.
Trustees discussed enforcement and routing related to a new JB Hunt facility and considered signage and conditioning of future PUD approvals to prevent heavy-truck turns into restricted areas. The meeting concluded with no executive session scheduled and adjournment; the board will reconvene in two weeks.
