Lemont board adopts $44.5 million fiscal 2026–27 budget, approves fee changes

The Lemont Village Board adopted its fiscal 2026–27 annual operating budget and capital improvement program on March 23, approving $44,500,000 in appropriations and a separate fee ordinance that implements modest increases and several new fees.

Darshana, a village staff member who presented the budget materials, summarized the process and timeline, saying: "We started in November 2025. The departments submitted their budgets… and we came up with $44,500,000 appropriations budget for fiscal 27." The board moved and seconded the ordinance (O-28-26) and approved it by roll call.

Clerk Charlene introduced the fee ordinance (O-27-26); Darshana said staff reviews fees annually and recommended "slight increase in some of the fees" and a couple of new fees. Trustees voted to adopt the fee ordinance after the committee-of-the-whole discussion referenced at prior meetings.

The budget and fee changes follow a multi-step review process the board discussed during committee meetings in February and March. The public hearing on the proposed budget was opened and closed with no public speakers during the hearing period.

Next steps: the ordinances are now adopted as the village’s fiscal plan for 2026–27 and will guide department spending and capital projects in the coming year. The board did not identify a separate implementation timetable in the meeting record.
