The Kiski Area School District Board of Directors approved a grouped slate of personnel appointments Monday, confirming items 10.1 through 10.24 on the meeting agenda.
Board secretary Mr. Liberta read names and contract details for the temporary professional employees, which included new hires for elementary, middle and secondary positions, special education roles and a school counselor. Several appointments listed step placements and salary figures "per the collective bargaining agreement," with approvals conditioned on receipt of required clearances and certifications.
The board moved to approve items 10.1'10.9 as a block; a trustee made the motion and the chair seconded. The board carried the motion by voice vote. Trustees later approved grouped items 10.22'10.24 the same way.
Board members noted the district follows a practice of considering long-term substitutes for next-step hiring when appropriate. Patrick Leland, a resident commenting during both agenda and non-agenda public comment, urged the board to ensure long-term substitutes are hired on the next contractual step when entitled; the board said it reviews step placement and that any necessary adjustments could appear on the June agenda.
Most appointments were recorded as "pending receipt of all necessary clearances and required paperwork." The board did not record roll-call vote tallies by name for these grouped approvals; motions were carried by voice vote with the chair announcing "Aye" and "Motion carries."
The approvals completed a significant personnel portion of the meeting; the board moved on to routine finance, legislation, bills and student-activities items afterward.
