Dr. Anderson, director of community mental health services, told the Allegany County Human Services Committee that this was likely his final committee report and said he has served the county for decades. "It has been a pleasure," he said, noting 43 years of service.
Dr. Anderson said the community services board has appointed Lindy as deputy DCS and requested permission to fill the assistant DCS position to provide operational support while formal state approvals from the interoffice coordinating council (IOCC) proceed. The committee approved the request to fill the assistant DCS so the office can maintain continuity while awaiting IOCC certification.
The director also sought a short‑term contract with Terry Ross to provide financial services for community services at a cost not to exceed $26,000 for the remainder of the year. Committee members asked whether the proposed compensation was comparable to prior contractors and whether the contractor would receive benefits; the director confirmed independent contractors do not receive county benefits or office space. The committee approved the contract in a roll‑call vote recorded as six yes and one no (Mister Whitney opposed).
Board members asked procedural questions about the IOCC process for certifying a permanent director; Dr. Anderson said the appointment requires state approval and that the community services board makes the formal appointment once the state agencies provide clearance. Members thanked Dr. Anderson for his service and wished him well.
The committee then moved on to adjournment.
