The Craig County School Board approved several procedural items during its meeting.
Policy: The board voted to approve the Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) model policy on digital accessibility for first reading following a motion by Mr. Gilreath and a second by Ms. Matheny. The policy frames access for students with disabilities to communications and information technology.
Trips and field work: The board approved an overnight FFA trip to the Virginia Tech state convention, with teachers Corey and Emily listed as chaperones. "I'll make a motion to approve the FFA field trip to Virginia Tech," a board member said; the motion was seconded and carried.
Budget: The board approved Resolution R202604, a current‑year budget adjustment staff said could improve carryover for next year although carryover rules limit how some funds may be used.
Consent and closed session: The consent agenda was approved as a whole. The board then convened a closed session under VA Code 2.2-3711(A) to discuss personnel matters, returned and certified that only exempted business was discussed; no actions resulted from the closed session.
All motions referenced in the meeting were moved and seconded and carried by show of hands as recorded in the meeting.
