Village staff gave a progress update on Lemont’s lead service-line replacement program at the Feb. 9 meeting, reporting that 30 private lead service lines were replaced in phase 1 and that restoration of affected properties will begin in spring.
Staff said phase 2 is scheduled to begin in summer and will replace about 26 additional lead lines; phase 3 is still in inventory and planning. The village confirmed the work is being done under contract with IAC, that lawn restoration and other property restoration work will be handled by the contractor, and that residents have reported few problems to date.
A resident who had work performed said the contractor showed up on time, minimized yard disturbance and completed work faster than expected; staff said the program is proceeding smoothly and will continue in coming months.
