South Bronx Early College Academy, a small charter middle school in the South Bronx, emphasizes intensive advisory, two teachers per classroom and early exposure to high-school and college pathways, Principal Taquia Robinson said on Open (BronxNet).
"We're a small independent charter school ... 2 teachers in every classroom, strong advisory program," Robinson said. She described grade-level experiences such as a sixth-grade trip to Black Rock Forest, a seventh-grade Broadway outing and an eighth-grade overnight trip intended to broaden students' experiences and career visibility.
Eighth-grader London Poly, who said she has performed since age 3 or 4 and recently performed at the Bronx Music Hall, credited the school with helping her prepare for auditions and manage the high-school application process. "They have helped me a lot with my application process," London said; she told the program she had been accepted to the Fordham School of the Arts.
Robinson said the school invites families into the advisory process, provides targeted electives (wilderness, cooking, dance, vocal arts) and intentionally exposes students to college-level coursework so they are ready for high school and beyond. Enrollment information was provided for families seeking sixth through eighth grade placement for the 2026-27 school year.
