County renews five-year cooperative roads agreement with Forest Service, approves FY27 plan

The Board of County Commissioners approved renewal of a five-year Cooperative Roads Agreement with the Forest Service and accepted the FY27 annual road maintenance plan on April 7.
Cameron Rasor and Lara Chodelski joined the commission for the discussion. The agreement is a standard renewal with no significant changes; under the plan the Forest Service will carry out heavier repairs and replace a structurally deficient bridge on Wyman Gulch Road while the county will retain responsibility for winter maintenance on designated routes. Commissioners discussed past investments (for example, Lakeshore Drive) and whether additional gravel work is warranted; no new projects were added to this year’s plan.
The commission also discussed the need to secure easements to ensure public access on some routes; staff were directed to prepare the necessary resolutions and approvals to pursue easements and to maintain coordination with the Forest Service on material and maintenance support.
Commissioner Adler moved to accept the five-year Cooperative Roads Agreement (Master Agreement) with Schedule A; Commissioner McLure seconded. The motion passed unanimously. Commissioner McLure then moved to accept the FY27 yearly road maintenance plan; Commissioner Adler seconded and that motion also passed unanimously.
