Commission reappoints LRCTA members and approves Georgia Forestry fire‑tower agreement

The commission adopted resolutions on June 4 and June 24 reappointing Commissioners Timothy Biddle and Gerald Douglas to the Lower Chattahoochee Regional Transportation Authority. Biddle’s reappointment runs to June 30, 2028; Douglas’s term extends to June 30, 2026, as recorded in the board minutes.
The board also approved a Fire Tower Agreement with the Georgia Forestry Commission for the July 1, 2024–June 30, 2025 contract year. Under the agreement the Unified Government will pay the Forestry Commission up to $4,738.58 for temporary personnel who operate the county’s fire‑tower detection duties; the Forestry Commission will bill the county at the end of the contract period. The agreement provides that the fire‑tower operator be a temporary, day‑labor appointment and that Forestry will use other full‑time employees if a local temporary candidate is unavailable.
County Manager Thomas Weaver presented the agreement and the associated resolution and the board authorized the chairman to execute the contract. The resolution and fully executed agreement are part of the official minutes and were approved by unanimous vote recorded in the minutes.
The agreements were placed on the agenda as routine intergovernmental and governance items; the board certified adoption of the associated resolutions as part of its June actions.
