Pocomoke City council approves annexation of 2.494-acre Brittingham parcel after public hearing

Pocomoke City — The Pocomoke City mayor and council on May 18 approved Resolution 2026-R-11 to annex a 2.494-acre parcel identified in the petition as proposed Parcel A, following a public hearing at City Hall.
The council’s second reading summarized statutory findings, noted that the petition and exhibits meet applicable state and local requirements, and said the parcel would be reclassified to B-2 (general business) zoning upon annexation. Mark Cropper, attorney for the property owners, told the council he had reviewed the city staff annexation analysis and a May 14 letter from the Maryland Department of Planning. "The Maryland Department of Planning…in all respects concurs that this annexation request complies with all state and local laws," he said, offering Dynamic Engineering’s Connor McManus as a technical contact if the council had questions.
A council member moved to approve the resolution. Another council member asked for clarification that the annexation agreement could be amended and that the applicants would review a final version before execution; the attorney responded that his client would need to see and approve a revised agreement before signing. "With that understanding that the annexation agreement may be amended," a council member said, the council proceeded to a voice vote.
The mayor called for the question and the council approved the resolution by voice vote (ayes recorded). The record does not show a roll-call tally.
