The Sumner City Council confirmed three appointments to local advisory bodies.
Communications Director Carmen Palmer asked the council to confirm Kylie Crick to the Sumner Lodging Tax Advisory Committee. Palmer said the committee’s state-mandated composition includes a chair from the council, two representatives who collect lodging tax revenue and two who spend it; she described Crick as regional director of sales and marketing for Sumner Hotels LLC, representing both the Holiday Inn Express and Candlewood Suites, and said Crick will represent lodging collectors while attending a conference that prevented her from appearing in person. The council approved the appointment.
The council also appointed Devin Thomas and Anne Marie Matthews to the Forestry, Parks & Arts Commission. Community and economic development director Ryan Windish said Thomas is a Sumner resident, co-owner of a downtown Pilates studio and the designer of the downtown mural; Thomas said he and his family are invested in Sumner and he is excited to serve. Windish introduced Matthews as a long-serving member of the cultural arts commission since 2020 who will bring arts experience to the combined commission; Matthews expressed appreciation and noted prior collaboration between arts and parks programs.
All three appointments were approved by roll call.
