The Town of Irmo council adopted its fiscal year 2026–27 operating and capital budget on May 19 during its second and final reading of Ordinance 26-10. The clerk’s roll call recorded unanimous affirmative votes. Council accepted staff’s statement that nothing had changed from the prior approval.
Council also voted on a slate of routine but consequential administrative items. It approved a contract renewal with MPK Strategies for public-information officer services, ratified a building-inspection and permitting contract with CC&I (with a revised revenue share), and selected Asset Technology Group as the town’s information-technology vendor after an RFP and finalist process. Council approved a contract with Lexington County to assign backup municipal judges and ratified a short-term HR contractor to fill an HR vacancy for two months.
On funding for events and tourism, council passed Resolution 26-06 to allocate an estimated $81,900 of accommodations-tax revenue among seven organizations (percentage-based allocations to support tourism/cultural events such as Okra Strut, Juneteenth, Harbison events and local festivals). Staff noted dollar amounts were estimates and the allocations would be implemented by percentage formulas recommended by the advisory committee.
What’s next: Staff will finalize contract paperwork, present any refined contract terms to council as needed, and implement the accommodations-tax allocations according to committee recommendations.
