"We are not gonna be moving forward with that plan, which is highly disappointing," Peter said. Bertie asked members for ideas and volunteers to keep data work moving under constrained resources. The index committee had planned to finalize definitions (for example, recidivism), governance and a cross‑collaborative data design to produce a dashboard to track implementation‑plan projects.
Members discussed the operational challenges of pursuing the index work without consultant support and suggested interim approaches, including expanding volunteer engagement, seeking other county funding sources, or using existing staff expertise. Peter said he had explored extending an existing contract to cover the work but learned the money would not be available given recent finance conditions.
The group agreed data is critical for measuring progress across implementation projects and that the steering committee and co‑chairs should consider options to sustain or reframe the index committee’s work under current fiscal constraints.
