City of Auburn hires Matthew Stone for print shop and graphic design

Jonathan Glover, communications manager for the City of Auburn, said the city recently added a new member to its communications team.

"We're joined today by Matthew Stone," Glover said, introducing Stone as a print-shop and graphic-design team member who officially started work in early April. "He officially joined the city of Auburn a month and a half ago," Glover said.

Matthew Stone said he relocated from Utah after deciding to “get out of Utah” and explore opportunities in the Seattle area. "I wanted to get out of Utah. I wanted to kind of, you know, explore, see what's out there, and kind of, you know, figure out things my own way," Stone said, describing his move and the decision to take the job.

On the Auburn on Main podcast, Glover and co-host Angie Pagosi said Stone's duties include print-shop operations, graphic design and general shop inventory management. Pagosi said the team has been impressed with his early performance: "I remember I was, like, Matthew's gonna be the person who comes in and knows what he's doing. And that's exactly what he's doing," she said.

Stone described some practical aspects of municipal work he has observed since joining the city, including the need to track inventory and follow formal procedures for disposing of or reassigning equipment. "You can't just, like, throw stuff away sometimes," he said, noting the adjustments from private-sector practices.

Glover said Stone lives in Auburn and that his short commute has helped his integration with staff. Visitors and residents can follow city communications for departmental updates and materials produced by the communications team.

The podcast segment offered an informal look at Stone's background and early months; it did not announce a public hiring ceremony or provide recruiting details beyond the introduction given on the show.
