County staff told commissioners on May 20 that a two-year effort to complete a 10-year regulatory plan for landfill capacity is nearing its midway point and that the final chapters will be drafted this summer.
A staff speaker said all landfill agreements have been executed and distributed to the landfills. He said he will meet with consultant Michelle Nestor in June to draft the last two chapters and that the plan is expected to be finished by the end of summer or early fall for submission to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to satisfy regulatory requirements.
