The North Polk Comm School District board voted to accept a proposed agreement with the North Polk Athletic Boosters that formalizes fundraising and advertising on district video boards and secures $120,000 in fundraising over four years.
Tad Lincoln, speaking for the boosters, described three membership levels and said the boosters will provide the district with $30,000 per year for four years, with options to match earlier donor commitments. "We are not doing multiyear agreements because we learned through our experience...Those multi-year agreements become a lot to manage," Lincoln said, explaining the boosters will market one-year packages that clarify deliverables for businesses.
The booster proposal included a request for 10 additional 30-second ads and clarified expectations about frequency and placement on the scroller. Lincoln emphasized the boosters would not take over all fundraising, and that fine arts and other groups can continue their work; "I don't want this to be construed that we are unwilling to partner," he said.
Administrators said the agreement helps centralize solicitation for video-board advertising, reduce duplicate asks to local businesses, and protect taxpayer funds by leveraging private fundraising to offset equipment costs. The board moved and approved the agreement and to accept the boosters' planned fundraising commitment.
The motion to accept the agreement and the donation passed unanimously. Administrators and boosters said the arrangement will be documented publicly so future officers can reference the terms; no changes to tax-supported operations were proposed at the meeting.
