The Murphysboro Community Unit School District 186 Board of Education approved a slate of routine business items and accepted several personnel resignations at its regular meeting.
The board voted to approve the meeting agenda, the consent agenda (including April board minutes and Tri-County documents), and district bills for May. Board members confirmed a schedule of meetings for the 2026–27 school year and adopted updates to the district’s press policy and building management plans that had been under review.
In financial and contracting matters, trustees approved a prevailing-wage ordinance and named the district’s fiscal depositories for 2026–27, including First Bank & Trust (Murphysboro), First Southern Bank (Murphysboro), Murphy-Wall Bank (Murphysboro), the Illinois Fund (Springfield), US Bancorp Fund Services, the Illinois School District Liquid Asset Fund, and Fifth Third Securities (Chicago). The board also approved an interagency agreement with Child and Family Connections.
The clerk read several personnel communications the board accepted: a resignation from David Stultz from his paraprofessional post at the middle school and as varsity girls head basketball coach; a retirement notice from Lori Wallace effective at the end of the school year; a resignation from Giovanni Mollerene effective following the soccer season; and a resignation letter from Caitlin Myers effective at the conclusion of her contractual obligation for the 2025–26 school year. The clerk read portions of Myers’s letter in which she thanked colleagues and wrote that the district "has become a community that welcomes, supported, and believed in me." The board moved, seconded and approved acceptance of the personnel items.
The board also recognized staff for continued service and approved employment and transfer actions, including voluntary transfers, noncertified hires, summer employment and summer-school teaching rosters.
