Representative Engels offered amendment A03167, saying the change expands SB64 to guarantee a dedicated program administrator at the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), provide a coordinator to help veterans navigate business startup resources, and make the veteran‑owned logo available free of charge. Engels said the amendment would also help drive donations to the Veterans Trust Fund to support county and nonprofit services for veterans.
Chair Gillan urged support and described the proposal as an evolving product that will require additional administrative detail as it moves through the legislature. The committee adopted Engels’s amendment unanimously and then passed SB64 as amended to the floor for consideration.
