Oneida County health staff hear update on DNR PFAS sampling, funding still unresolved

Linda Conlon, a staff member with the Oneida County health department, told the Board of Health Committee on April 14 that the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is continuing private PFAS sampling and that most positive results so far have come from the Town of Stella.
Vice Chair William "Casey" Crump said he expects the DNR will oversee the new funding and that money will be split between private and community needs, including well testing and filtration systems. Conlon said decisions remain unsettled: officials do not yet know when funds will be available or how communities should apply. She said department staff hope to receive quarterly updates from the DNR and will continue to follow the process.
Conlon also said some funding has been awarded and that progress is being made, but she did not provide details about award amounts or application timelines. The committee did not take formal action on PFAS at the meeting; members asked staff to monitor DNR guidance and updates.
The Board of Health is expected to receive further information at its May meeting when the department anticipates additional updates from the DNR.
