Fulshear council approves board appointments, extends senior-center rental and elects mayor pro tem

The Fulshear City Council on Tuesday confirmed a slate of appointments to planning and zoning, economic development (Type A and B), the zoning board of adjustment, parks and recreation and other city boards, extended a facility rental agreement for Fort Bend Seniors and re-elected Sarah Johnson as mayor pro tem.
Council approved the planning and zoning slate (Gregory Emmons, Jessica Clark, Christina Barron, Jake Anderson and John Dowdahl with terms noted), and appointed directors to the city’s economic development corporations and other boards as listed on the meeting packet. For many of the boards the council used mayoral and council nominations and voice votes to confirm the nominees.
Kelsey (staff) presented the Fort Bend Seniors program metrics for the Irene Stern Community Center. Staff told council the seniors program has enrolled 95 participants and served roughly 6,000 meals at the center in the past year; daily attendance averages 20–25 and peaks of 35–40 on Wednesdays. Council approved a one-year renewal of the rental agreement under existing terms.
Council also voted to re-elect Sarah Johnson as mayor pro tem by voice vote.
On the Charter Review Commission (item O), council discussed adopting minimal qualification criteria and a process for accepting applications; the council directed members to submit suggested qualification language by the end of the week and postponed appointment of the charter commission to a subsequent meeting so staff can publish the updated application and gather applicants.
