Warren County Board of Health unanimously adopts fee schedules, accepts financial report and handbook updates

The Warren County Board of Health on March 17 accepted the department’s financial report, approved several state-set fee schedules and adopted updates to its Board handbook, voting unanimously on each item.
Board Chair Dr. Elton Brown called the meeting to order and the board moved through routine business. Dr. Margaret Brake presented the financial report, saying the department’s Medicaid services have transitioned to managed care organizations and cost‑settlement processes. She told the board collections for Home Health and Environmental Health exceeded the amounts budgeted; the board noted 73% of budgeted revenue has been collected for the fiscal year. "The Master Revenue report is a summary of earnings," Brake said in presenting the update.
Board members then considered program fee schedules that are set by the state. The board approved the Wisewoman and North Carolina Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program (NC BCCCP) fee schedule; the department continues to refer patients to Maria Parham Hospitals for mammograms. The Family Planning fee schedule was also accepted, retroactive to Feb. 26, on a unanimous vote.
The board accepted an updated Board of Health handbook that incorporated an updated membership list (naming Alan Daeke as vice chair) and added resources including the 2022 Community Health Assessment. Ms. Linda Baker moved to accept the handbook with updates; Commissioner Bertadean Baker seconded the motion, which passed without dissent.
Dr. Brown acknowledged departing members Dr. Robert Stewart and Melissa Richardson, both of whom are moving from Warren County and are no longer able to serve. The board set no new actions beyond approvals and accepted staff reports.
