North 9th Street bridge: Tim said staff have received public questions about traffic maintenance during the bridge closure and recommended posting finalized plans to social media. Dave explained the contractor is balancing competing schedules and outlined two closure strategies: (1) no closures until spring with work extending through next year, or (2) two short closures (a short early closure to hang forms and then a longer closure through September/October for demolition and reconstruction). Dave said the two‑closure approach is less disruptive overall.
Morehouse Road: Phase 1 was reported as closed out. For Morehouse Phase 2 staff noted a slight cost increase; Dave said paving is expected to be complete in June.
Bridges and inspections: The RFP and selection for construction inspection on the Bridge 64/65 package have progressed. Dave said the county is completing bridge inspection reports and plans to use truck‑mounted rapid soundings on larger city bridges to avoid full closures and reduce traffic disruption. For Bridge 527 over Wea Creek staff cited an October reopening estimate from the latest report.
South 9th Street and Lafayette items: Tim reviewed multiple South 9th Street project components. Funding amounts were adjusted across the subprojects to reflect TIP shifts: the sewer portion showed significant cost increases matching the bid letting, while the bridge portion saw cost decreases to align with the letting schedule. The signal preemption intersection project showed a small cost increase but remains on track.
West Lafayette projects and Sagamore Parkway Trail: Tim said West Lafayette’s signal preemption memorandum of understanding is in process with INDOT and city review and that Morphy has been awarded the contract; Scott Chandler confirmed preconstruction is set in the coming weeks. Scott also reported final acceptance on the Sagamore Parkway Trail was reviewed and signed by the city and returned on May 10. Bill Smith noted two preemption contracts (Lafayette and West Lafayette) still require signatures—one at the city/mayor level and final signature at the attorney general’s office.
