Dr. Stout recommended the hire and the board moved and passed the contract by voice vote. The motion recorded in the meeting minutes states the appointment was approved, with the superintendent and board expressing support for Bentman’s role in continuing district goals and student support.
The meeting centered first on student recognitions. The board celebrated its salutatorian and valedictorian: Soham Bandeopadhyay delivered remarks recognizing his teacher, Mr. Zalkind; valedictorian Alejandro Vidal spoke of the influence of “Profe Andres,” who in turn praised Vidal’s academic, athletic and artistic accomplishments. The board also acknowledged program successes: Brian Burnett, the DECA adviser, reviewed state‑level and international placements including a top‑10 international finish by Camden Jones. Chris Palaczek announced multiple district teams advancing to Odyssey of the Mind World Finals at Iowa State, and Daniel Herbein described a record season for the percussion (interpercussion) program that involved 34 students and regional and world championship competition.
Routine consent items and personnel matters were approved during the meeting, and the board accepted donations including a $350 PTO gift for East Coventry Elementary library replacements and a $1,600 PTA gift for a French Creek second‑grade field trip to LEGOLAND. A rescission/release motion was authorized subject to finalization of release language by administration and the solicitor’s office.
The meeting concluded after public comment and board discussion; the chair adjourned the session.
