At its May 19 work session the Hopewell Area School District board approved a slate of administrative agreements, service contracts and personnel actions.
The board voted to approve a memorandum of understanding with the Hopewell Township Police Department, effective July 1, 2026, setting procedures for specified incidents on school property and at school‑sponsored activities. A second memorandum of understanding with the Independence Township Police Department, effective the same date, was approved in a separate motion; both motions carried on roll call.
The board also approved a five‑year dual‑credit affiliation agreement with Penn State University effective July 1, 2026; the motion passed after the presenter asked if there were any objections.
In the finance report, the board approved payment of listed bills and ratified payments and approved a one‑year Medic Rescue emergency transport contract for the 2026–27 school year at a cost of $3,800. The board also approved a one‑year agreement with CSIU for listed services and a three‑year contract with Mile 2 Consulting to coordinate a district school‑based access program (the Mile 2 contract was approved pending solicitor review).
On personnel matters, the board approved a slate of appointments effective July 1, 2026: Deborah Engleman as Board Treasurer (term 07/01/2026–06/30/2027), Christina Lane as solicitor (07/01/2026–06/30/2027) and Bridal Enders as Board Secretary (07/01/2026–06/30/2030). The board accepted the retirement/resignation of bus driver Kimberly Hatfield (effective 05/08/2026), approved the change of employment status for Caleb Webb from transportation aide to full‑time bus driver (effective 05/08/2026), and accepted the resignation of bus driver Robert Amhine (effective 05/22/2026).
Board policy was explicitly cited in one vote: the district agreed to cover $2,500 in costs for a student to attend FCCLA Nationals pursuant to board policy 240.1.
The motions were presented by committee leads and carried; the transcript records the approving roll calls and concludes with the board adjourning the session.
