The Village of Richland Council voted May 11 to approve a preliminary contract for Police Chief Mattioli and to increase the chief’s compensation, the council said during committee reports.
President Pro‑Temp Gail Koporetz and Trustee Jason Mechenbier moved the preliminary contract for presentation to the full council; the motion carried. The council separately approved an adjustment to the village budget to provide a salary increase for Chief Mattioli. Roll-call votes on the compensation motion were recorded as Yes: Koporetz, Riddle, Mechenbier, Greve; No: 0.
Council members discussed the police compensation change during the Police committee report; no specific dollar amounts for the salary increase were stated in the meeting minutes. The preliminary contract is to be returned to the council for further review and final action.
The meeting also included routine business: motion approvals for the agenda, minutes and bills payable and other committee updates. The council adjourned at 8:36 p.m.
